JOB - Product Design Engineer

LOCATION - Northamptonshire

TERM - Permanent

SALARY - £30,000 to £35,000 per annum (plus benefits)

Premier Engineering is working with a leading design and manufacturing company in Northamptonshire that is looking to hire a Product Design Engineer. This role is ideal for someone with experience in retail or POS design, looking to work on innovative and high-quality product solutions.

The Product Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• A degree or qualification in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in product design, ideally within retail displays, POS, or furniture manufacturing.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
• Knowledge of materials such as plastics, metals, wood, and composites.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, including sheet metal fabrication, injection moulding, and CNC machining.
• Ability to produce detailed technical drawings, BOMs, and specifications.
• Strong creative and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Experience liaising with suppliers, manufacturers, and internal teams.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

The Product Design Engineer role will involve:

• Designing and developing innovative retail and POS display solutions.
• Producing 3D models, technical drawings, and prototypes.
• Ensuring designs are cost-effective, functional, and manufacturable.
• Working closely with clients, sales teams, and manufacturers to meet project requirements.
• Managing projects from concept through to production and installation.
• Conducting product testing and improvements based on client feedback.
• Keeping up to date with industry trends, materials, and new technologies.
