About the Opportunity

Carbal Medical Services is looking for full-time or part-time General Practitioners to join their team based in either Toowoomba or Warwick, QLD.

Reporting to the Chief Clinical Operations Officer and Clinical Lead, you will deliver culturally safe, patient-focused, and evidence-based healthcare. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to shaping Carbal's high-performing, community-led medical model.

Responsibilities

  • Providing high-quality, evidence-based primary health care services
  • Diagnosing and managing acute and chronic medical conditions
  • Delivering culturally safe and trauma-informed care to a diverse patient population
  • Participating in preventative health programs and health promotion
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team including RNs, Aboriginal Health Workers, and Allied Health
  • Supporting care continuity and integrated care pathways
  • Maintaining accurate and compliant clinical documentation
  • Contributing to clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives
  • For fellowship-qualified GPs: supervise registrars and contribute to growth of training programs
  • Option to develop a special interest (e.g. women’s health, dermatology, chronic disease, Indigenous health), with organisational support

About You

  • AHPRA registration as a Medical Practitioner
  • Eligible to work in Australia
  • Commitment to culturally safe healthcare, especially for First Nations clients
  • Ability to work autonomously while collaborating within a broader care team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fellowship (FRACGP or ACRRM) — ideal for supervising trainees
  • Experience working in an Aboriginal Medical Service, ACCHO, or culturally diverse health setting
  • Comfort working in regional/rural environments and openness to flexibility

Personality & Cultural Fit

  • Compassionate, genuine, and community-focused
  • Team-oriented yet independent practitioners
  • Respectful, culturally sensitive, and trauma-aware
  • Keen to make a long-term impact, not just treat single episodes
  • Committed to improving health equity for First Nations communities
  • We also welcome GPs with overseas experience (GPT3+ level), depending on supervision requirements

About the Benefits

Remuneration is based on a generous percentage of billings, with daily earnings typically ranging between $2,000 and $3,000.

Recent earnings data from our GPs shows that Carbal’s percentage-of-billings model can deliver annual earnings between $305,000 and $398,000, even when working flexible, part-time schedules.

This strong earning potential is driven by Carbal’s multidisciplinary AMS model, where GPs benefit not only from their own consultations, but also from:

  • Nurse-completed chronic disease and health assessment billables
  • Treatment room and allied-health related services
  • Longer, more comprehensive appointments supported by additional services

This model enables you to earn excellent income without extended hours, while delivering high-quality, culturally safe care to the community.

Additional benefits include:

  • Flexible working arrangements tailored to your lifestyle (no minimum or maximum hours)
  • Two-week paid Christmas shutdown (additional bonus payment under review)
  • Supportive, cohesive multidisciplinary team with clinical oversight
  • In-house and accredited professional development opportunities
  • Access to Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Gym membership and wellness benefits
  • Discounted automotive services (e.g. tyres via Carbal fleet benefits)
  • Live and work in Toowoomba – one of Australia’s largest inland cities with excellent schools, hospitals, and a temperate climate
  • Relocation assistance may be considered for the right candidate
