Our Energy Networks business is home to over two hundred talented people ranging from early career professionals to established engineers and project managers. We work throughout the UK and beyond in the Off-Shore Electricity Transmission, On-Shore Electricity Transmission, and Distribution markets to help keep the lights on!
WSP’s T&D team delivers electrical power projects at transmission and distribution voltage levels. This role involves project managing pre-construction and construction activities (from design to energisation) for large-scale high voltage infrastructure and grid connections at voltage levels normally between 33kV and 400kV.
We are currently recruiting for an EHV OHL Project Manager to join our UK Transmission and Distribution (T&D) team.
What will you do:
- Develop EHV (33kV up to and including 132kV) projects' initial functional requirements into compliant, cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Manage the development and delivery of EHV OHL projects (33kV up to and including 132kV) in terms of time, cost, safety, and quality.
- Interface with customers as well as internal and external resources to develop and deliver EHV OHL projects.
- Undertake the role of CDM Designer and/or Principal Designer for developed EHV OHL projects.
- Communicate effectively with internal engineering and industrial resources.
- Coordinate external service providers and administer commercial aspects.
- Visit sites to assess project requirements, meet with project teams and contractors, monitor work progress, conduct safety audits, and discuss engineering difficulties.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
- Minimum HNC in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience managing medium-large scale EHV OHL projects (33kV up to and including 132kV) throughout the full project lifecycle.
- A good understanding of electrical distribution plant items such as Switchgear, Protection, Power Transformers, and Underground power cables.
- Knowledge of applicable engineering standards.
- Excellent understanding of H&S and CDM requirements.
- Ability to undertake the role of ‘Designer’ and ‘Principal Designer’ under the CDM regulations.
- The ability to travel to client sites and offices within North East England and Yorkshire.
